Transformation From the Inside Out

About Marcia

My journey to this moment has quite a few twists and turns, much like yours I’m sure. Education-wise, I received undergraduate degrees in both business and psychology and then went on to receive an MBA. After school I did the usual corporate thing and spent the first 20 years of my professional life as a Human Resources/Training executive in a variety of settings. I leaped out of my very cozy and financially comfortable world at age 41 and decided to honor my long-standing interest in the process of personal transformation by becoming a licensed Marriage and Family Therapist while working on a Ph.D. in clinical psychology.

During the past five years, I've had the opportunity to work with many individuals, families, couples, children, adolescents and groups in a variety of settings throughout San Diego including Kaiser Permanente, YWCA of San Diego, and MHS Providence Place. Currently, I have a private practice at the Cognitive Therapy Institute of San Diego where I work with individuals, groups, couples and families on a variety of clinical and relationship problems.

From a personal standpoint, many of my life experiences have taught me valuable lessons in staying open to possibilities, exploring different directions, and the process of change—whether it is externally driven or something we desperately want. I founded SelfConnect as a way to promote transformation through awakened full awareness and as a way to make practical knowledge, skills and resources that facilitate personal change more readily available to a greater number of individuals.

While our backgrounds may be very different, I do believe that we walk the same line, so to speak, in that we are striving for a more complete and authentic way of being. Our desire to get home to who we are and be ok with what we find is what unites us.

I look forward to sharing the journey with you,
