Weight problems are escalating and uncontrolled eating is a challenge for many people trying to manage their weight. You don’t want to overeat but you do, and you are not alone. It is not about loving food and lacking willpower, it is about turning to food as a way to obtain comfort and relief from bottled-up feelings, unmet needs, and chronic emotional distress. Also, the foods you binge on (usually high fat, high carbohydrate, highly processed foods, etc.) only add to the problem by further weakening you and creating a vicious cycle that is hard to break. Even if you know something isn’t quite right, you continue to overeat because you don’t know what to.
