Transformation From the Inside Out

Marcia Garceau
Overcoming Binge Eating

Think you are the only one battling binge eating (also known as uncontrolled overeating)? Think again! Weight problems are escalating and uncontrolled eating is a challenge for many people trying to manage their weight.  You don’t want to overeat but you do, and you are not alone.  It is not about loving food and lacking willpower, it is about turning to food as a way to obtain comfort and relief from bottled-up feelings, unmet needs, and chronic emotional distress. Also, the foods you binge on (usually high fat, high carbohydrate, highly processed foods, etc.) only add to the problem by further weakening you and creating a vicious cycle that is hard to break. Even if you know something isn’t quite right, you continue to overeat because you don’t know what to.

When is Overeating out of Control?

  • If you consume a significant amount of food in a short amount of time and feel unable to control it.
  • If you struggle with rapid weight gain and yo-yo dieting.
  • If you find yourself eating alone, hiding food, and eating late at night.
  • If you often have feelings of disgust and shame about your eating habits.
  • Find out how dieting can lead to uncontrolled overeating.

This introductory workshop enables you to identify and make sense out of what you already know and builds on this knowledge to help you overcome binge eating.

You will develop a solid foundation and boost your confidence as you learn to:

  • Understand warning signs and risk factors of uncontrolled overeating
  • Recognize personal eating patterns and triggers
  • Build acceptance and commitment to change
  • Identify strategies to reduce the frequency and intensity of your overeating
  • Identify ways to prevent future overeating

This practical and informative workshop encourages you to start where you are and move at you own rate of change in an informal and friendly environment. Your workshop workbook allows you to develop a personal roadmap to overcoming binge eating and prepares you for more advanced techniques offered in the Overcoming Binge Eating—Intermediate/Advanced Workshop
